Monkey Missy

Briant and I went on a short walk yesterday evening. The weather was just so nice we couldn't pass up the opportunity. When we got home, we started looking at some of the trees in our yard, and were discussing what we needed to do to them in the next week so the bugs can't destroy them. We were mostly looking at our aspen trees, because they are having the most problems (with the bugs, or grub worms, whatever they are), but then I started looking at the biggest tree in our yard (I have no idea what kind it is). For a while now it has had this branch on the top that somehow got broken off, and it was just barely hanging on, but hasn't fallen off. Well, it has been bugging me so I decided to climb our tree to see if I could get it off. Briant thought I was crazy. He kept telling me not to worry about it and that he didn't want me to fall. Briant doesn't know that when I was a kid I absolutely loved to climb trees! He watched me for a while to make sure that I would indeed be okay then he went and got the video camera.
Well, I ended up needing a saw and a hammer to finally get this branch down, but I did it! You can see the 'stub' that the branch came off of next to my head.
(If you'll notice, I am sawing with my left hand in this photo)
It probably took me a good hour because once I got the thing sawed off, I had to figure out how to get it down. It was all tangled around other branches, so I had to saw it up into pieces.
I got a really good workout so I didn't feel too bad for not riding my bike yesterday, and it gave me really good sense of accomplishment! I found out that I still love to climb trees! It also felt really good to have Briant call me his strong, tough, wife the rest of the night too!

That's awesome that you did that. I would have climbed up the tree but there is no way that I would have sawed it off. Good for you!

I love climbing trees too. We had two big cherry trees growing up. My dad gave us ice cream buckets with a string that went over our shoulder and we just climbed all over to get the cherries. Good times!

He told that story at least THREE times during lunch. But he painted himself in a bad light saying that he just watched TV the whole time you were working so hard and precariously. :)
