We didn't exactly have plans on Easter Eve so we were just sort of sitting around and watching the annual showing of 'The Ten Commandments' on TV ("Let my people go!"). When what to mine wondering eyes should appear, a little buzz of my phone and an inviting text message from a friend. Danielle lives in Rexburg, with her cute little family, but she just happen to be in town! We got ready and went over to her house to visit and play games. It was really good to catch up, and see her kids who are getting so big! We talked about how weird it is to be the "older kids" now, seeing all the littler kids we grew up with getting so big, and watching the kids we babysat, driving now! Yeah, weird! We ended up playing Scattegories, and Briant won, after all it is his favorite game. Thanks again, D&C for such a fun time!
I was so excited for Sunday this week because I got a new Easter dress and I was very excited to wear it to church. I had a really hard time finding one that #1 I actually liked and #2 one that was appropriate to wear. But Dressbarn, of all places, came to my rescue (and Briant's wallet, "I lurve you honey!"):
Briant was excited because we prepared a roast with potatoes, onions, and carrots for today after church.
It wasn't quite ready when we got back from church so this is where Briant stood until it was time to eat.
Easter is such a great holiday. It is fun to decorate eggs and get lots of candy, it's fun to get a new dress to wear and have a feast. But, this year I am really trying to focus on the true meaning of Easter. It is the time to remember that Christ rose from the tomb, and because he rose, we will too. I love to hear the talks in church of our Redeemer, Jesus Christ, and to think of the great sacrifices he made for me, so that I could return to live with my Father in Heaven and be with my family forever. I know that I am not perfect and that I make many mistakes. How grateful I am to my Savior who loves me so much that he paid the price for my sins, and died for me so that I could rise again. I know that it is impossible for me to be perfect, so I'll try to do the best that I can , and my Savior will help me with the rest. I think it is very appropriate that Easter is in the spring, because the earth is coming out of winter when everything looks dead. The green is starting to appear and is showing us that the earth is being renewed and it brings us hope. It is from the dead that Christ rose, and he gives us hope too.
