We actually started packing things up back in January. There was stuff in our basement that we knew we didn't use that much so we packed it up early. That made our job in June a little easier. We knew we couldn't really pack up alot of stuff before the week that we actually moved so we waited until the last week in June to really hit the packing hard core.
Andrew had his 1 year old appointment & shots at the beginning of the week but then, he decided that it would be a great week to get some molars too. With all the packing and his world being turned upside down with everything going into boxes, this proved to be challenging. His schedule was all messed up, he was cranky & clingy and wouldn't play by himself. It was a good guess if he would take a nap when he usually did or go to bed at his normal bedtime. I expressed my concern & frustration on Facebook that I was afraid I was letting him get away with all the rules I had set in place. I was letting him fall asleep on me and not in his bed like I'd worked so hard to do. I really felt like I needed to comfort him during a difficult time but didn't want to let go of all our progress. A really good friend and mother of 5 commented on my status that kids take moving harder than anyone and that he probably didn't want to miss anything. That was really comforting to me, along with all the other reassuring comments I received saying that he would be back to normal soon. He is back to his normal self now, but he continued having a ruff time that week and the whole next week. He has a nice new shiny molar to show for it! His temp even reached 103.6 at one point... YIKES! Thank goodness for the Priesthood!
Well, we ended up just having to take turns packing. Andrew helped too!
We got our truck on Wednesday and Briant's dad got into town Thursday night. So Friday the truck packing began. Briant's friends, coworkers and the Young Men from our ward all came to help. They had everything out of our house in 20 minutes, but the actually packing of the truck took into the afternoon. We got a 16 foot truck and we were really worried at times that not everything would fit.
So with lots of patients, rearranging multiple times, and my FIL's witty engineering & organizing skills we were able to fit everything we needed in.
To the brim people! This was taken Saturday morning
right before Briant and FIL left.
That is what most of their drive looked like. Flat & boring. I got a lot of updates from my FIL & Briant too, keeping me in the loop where they were. FIL took some pictures (and video too) for me.
They did alot of gassing up.
More on the road...
FIL took lots of pictures unloading. It was fun to see
the progression. Here's the place with lots of boxes everywhere.
I promise to post pictures of our place when we get everything set up, we have a couch, and I have all my pictures on the wall.
Part 2 coming soon...
