This isn't the way I pictured it.
Nothing especially interesting happened in the Giles world this week. Except for our little experiment. You see we made a cake and I didn't want to just leave it in the pan. I thought that I could make it look prettier by cutting it in half, and stacking each side on top of one other. While this will work with two round cakes, it doesn't work so well with a 9x13 inch cake. My hopes were high until the frosting began. It looked so much more even on the sides in my head. By then I was in the middle of frosing and couldn't fix it. Shortly after finishing, one side cracked, and I had to live with my failed creation. But it still tasted good.

Too Funny! Thankfully it doesn't matter what they look like, as long as they taste good. When the girls decorate you can barely tell that there is a cake under there. But they always taste great!
Oh, Missy...this is just too darn funny! Makes me miss you even more...HAHAH! I think it's great you tried an experiment though. :)
Here is a secret I learned from my mom... after you stack your cakes stick straws through the layers so they are more stuck together. Tooth picks only work if it is shorter, but straws work great for bigger stuff. Then as you frost it, it usually doesn't crack as much. She even does that with her round cakes in the summer when everything melts.
missy's getting domestic! how cute!
and by the way.. i can attest to the straw trick. very handy.
That is FABULOSO!! It looks delicious!
HA HA HA.... I DID THE SAME EXACT THING LAST MONTH!
