An Afternoon on Campus

Today was really cold, but sunny.  With all the rain this week, we had to get out.  I mean it's crazy beautiful here!  Briant told me I'd love taking pictures of all blooming plants on campus... and he was right!  I really went crazy with the flower pictures.  I told you there would be more!

I will not be climbing any Honey Locus trees anytime soon.

But even they, through their thorns, are getting green.

We spent a good amount of time at the mermaid fountain.

I love these beautiful birds!  I spot them all the time!  They aren't hard to miss.
They are always singing and I'm getting good at recognizing their song.

This is the Kelley Business School building behind the clock,
where Briant goes to school.

Blossoms and Happiness

I have been absolutely in love with this year's Spring.  I think these past couple months have been hard because there were tease days of warm weather that we got every so often.  I would start thinking of all the promises of nice weather then my hopes were dashed when the cold returned.  I think Andrew and I have had cabin fever, and it didn't help that his tantrums got worse as the cold pressed on (although I think we are finally getting them figured out now and have a system that works for us).

This winter proved to be the hardest in terms of waiting patiently for Spring.  I often had no motivation and wanted nothing more than to cuddle up under a warm blanket and watch a good show (Charmed was that show--- I just finished the last season).  With the lack of motivation brought a little depression from not accomplishing anything.  We did have play dates, grocery shopping, and playgroups to save us, otherwise we probably would have rarely left the house.

But thank goodness for higher temperatures, and sunshine.  I've never really felt the affects of S.A.D. before, but I think I got a little taste of it this year!  I'm so happy that it is getting warmer, and that we aren't cooped up inside.

The colors of this Spring have been vibrant. Idaho springs are wonderful but the colors in Bloomington are amazing!   They bring back happiness and energy.  The streets are filled with blooming trees of every kind.  I have loved seeing the beauty and capturing it forever.

The forsythia trees have been amazing!
I'm sure my future yard will have one!

Stayed tuned I may add more...

A Pretty Cool Cake

I found this awesome idea for a cake on Pinterest.  I've had some interest in cake decorating.  I don't want to be a professional, just make cute cakes for birthday parties. I decided for no particular reason to make this one.

I started making it Sunday, got it assembled and ready for frosting.  I decided on Butter cream frosting like the post from Pinterest.

It took way more frosting than I expected.  I ran out and I had to buy more frosting on Monday.

I frosted it on the one day, Andrew decided that he didn't need a nap.  Luckily he stayed in his crib...

Funny thing... I had someone ask me if this was a gender reveal cake.  HA!  Nope!
But the inside was to reveal a COOL design!  And it did!

I did add black food coloring to the chocolate cake to make it darker!

My inspiration:  ZEBRA STRIPS CAKE

Side note to self... You probably should make it for an occasion.
It makes way more than two people + a toddler can eat by themselves.
And it definitely will not last a whole week without sliding/falling apart!
