She was my first car. We were driving in her the other day and I realized we wouldn't have her much longer. The memories started to flood in...
My brother & SIL helped me find her in November 2004. I didn't really know much about what to look for when buying a car. I'm so thankful they were looking out for me and found me such a great car. It fit my personality perfectly in my opinion and was everything I needed!
I bought her for $3900 with 89,000 miles under her belt. A great deal. I took out my first loan and my monthly payments were around $90.00 a month. I think I payed her off in 2006. That felt so good!
She got her name one day when I came home from a horse show where I worked with my aunt. As we pulled up to my house I said, "LUCY, I'm home!" After that it just stuck.
I put a "Life is Good" window sticker in the back... it's still there & I don't think it will ever come off.
She took me many places! She was very reliable.
She took me to Great Harvest to work everyday. For Christmas the year I got her, my parents got me a remote start for Lucy. That was really great because I was waking up at 3am every morning to bake at work. It was really nice to not have to go out in the cold to start my car.
I watched the sun set many times in Lucy. When I lived with my parents and needed some time to myself I would drive up to the top of the hill and watch the sun set and think.
I drove in Lucy to enter my pictures for the very first time in the State Fair.
I drove to house sit in Lucy.
The first time I drove to SLC I was in Lucy. It was very nerve racking for me but I made that trip several more times in the years following and each time it got better.
We went to Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Swan Valley, Palisades, Star Valley, Provo, Tooele, and everyday around town.
I could fit anything in that car. People ask me if I was sure I could fit so much in my car and Lucy never let me down. Horse show gear, tables and TVs, girls camp equipment, my bike, stuff for trips and vacations, tools to work, and my most precious cargo my son.
In January 2007, I got in my very first accident. It was my fault. I went without Lucy for a few months (it wasn't a bad accident, they just had a lot of other people's car's to fix before mine) and missed her so much!
She was one of my best friends and I did some of my best thinking in her. She has been in my life for so long now, it's hard to remember life when I didn't have her.
She helped me grow up into a responsible adult. She listened to my problems. She caught tears that fell, and smiles that beamed. I sang my guts out in her and slept in her. I had my first relationship with Lucy, kissed my first boy, & had my first real heart break. I moved out of my parents house with Lucy. I got married with Lucy. When I had my first baby, Lucy was there to welcome me home.
Earlier last year we decided to get a new car and my husband started to drive Lucy. Each time I would drive Lucy again all those sweet memories would flood over me.
Today, it was time to say good-bye. We are moving and we know we can't take her with us. We know she is in good hands. We are now a one car family....
I know she is just a car but I loved my little car. She provided me with some really good times.
Good bye Friend.
